My yoga is and always has been a deep, meditative practice; one that tugs and pulls at me and is impossible to ignore.

It is with a sense of curiosity that I begin to work with a beginning student. A dance begins in which we both explore the outward form of the asanas. Learning what each ‘pose’ looks like, learning what the student is comfortable with, uncomfortable with, where is the new student willing to go.

After a while though, the work becomes less about the ‘form’ of a pose and becomes ‘the pose behind the pose’. The student and I become closer and work in a different place. The work becomes personal and designed for the need of the student.

The same approach is used in a class setting, but is then designed for the needs of the class as a whole.

My years of teaching have introduced me to a world of wonderful people. I am so grateful that so many of the people I have taught have shared with me how Yoga has changed their life. They share that this way of working has opened doors into themselves that they never dreamed possible. They also share that the work can be difficult; the poses, the breathing and the finding of their inner path. When I worked with Vanda Scaravelli she would say … ‘the work is ‘simple’, not necessarily ‘easy’. The simplicity of this work can change how we are in the world. We look at the world through softer eyes.

As I no longer have the responsibilities of running a studio, I have the time to devote to smaller classes and private classes. I continue to mentor Yoga teachers both with their practice and with their business questions. I now have time to delve deeper into my own spirituality, deeper into my yoga practice, time to walk in the woods, time to breathe.

I am grateful to my years of work with Diane Long who teaches with clear and soft eyes (Diane was a student of Vanda Scaravelli for 23 years) and to my studies with Judith Koltai whose teachings bring one to clarity through Authentic Movement. I am also grateful for my long friendships with Elissa Gallander and Lynn Wylie who know me so well and speak with honesty and integrity. I value their words.

The following testimonials reflect the work that I do. Testimonials
